The Koester Story
A family business built on straight talk.
Gerry Koester opened the doors in 1963 with a simple premise: Edmonton families deserve an advisor who works for them, not for an insurance company. Over the next three decades, Gerry grew the brokerage by acquiring five local agencies — George Low Insurance (1986), Ross Realty Insurance (1988), Kordich Insurance, Anderson-Graham Insurance (both 1990), and La Insurance Shop / Legal Insurance & Registry Services (1992).
In 1998, Brian Koester took over the brokerage. He kept everything that made it work — the independence, the personal service, the Edmonton focus — and brought it into the modern era. Today, Koester Insurance Services operates from our Jasper Ave office in the heart of the city, serving homeowners and drivers across the Edmonton metro area.
As an independent broker, we're not tied to any single insurer. That means we shop the market on your behalf, compare coverage options, and recommend the policy that actually fits your life — not the one with the highest commission.
